There are people here far more experienced than I, but to reinforce a point made already, my 2MB was the same as yours, I removed Bank 2, it still reported 1MB. I then replaced the chips on that side with a set from a lovely guy selling a kit on eBay for £20 (Samsung branded)... All fixed and now reporting 2MB, in my case I have a suspicion the original chips may be still good, my guess is the battery damage affected the pads/connectivity on the side facing the battery. You could try reflowing the pins, before going to that length.
