8-bit acorn hardware • Re: Can I use Gotek or MMFS with Opus DDOS to make real floppies?

The Gotek (with FlashFloppy firmware) tries to emulate a floppy drive. So it _should_ be recognised by your FDC and DDOS.

And so it should(!) work "out of the box" with standard SSD and DSD (single density) images.

Notice all those "shoulds"... I've not tested that variation so I can't guarantee it. But I think it should (there's another one) work.

Getting it to work with Double Density images may be slightly harder.

For Solidisk I created a specific file extension for my raw BITD floppy->image transfers (which were sequential side 0 track 0->79 then side 2 track 0->79) in ff.cfg

Code:

[stldsdd]cyls = 80heads = 2id =0mode = mfmsecs = 16bps = 256file-layout = sequential
Solidisk DDFS used 16 sectors per track. The only OPUS DDOS I know of used the 1770 but had 18 sectors per track. I dunno if your 8272 version also did 18. Adjust the config accordingly and pick a filename extension that makes you happy :lol:
