I took a closer look at what Icon is doing. It goes into a 16bit mode, but the mode request block sets NColours to the Wrong value for a 16bit mode. That appears to work on a RiscPC, but even if I correct it the bit order is wrong on a Pi. In fact I tried all bit orders for 16bit modes and didn’t see any difference.
That would suggest the Pi doesn’t support the bit order the RiscPC uses. I’ll have to look through the TRM’s and compare them. Assuming the Pi does support the same bit order as a RiscPC, I’ll test it without ADFFS loaded to rule it out.
I don’t think the ROOL thread I linked above is relevant in this case as it’s referring to the desktop, so would be a noticeable mismatch between the OS, Pi firmware.
