Thank you, I'm certainly a step forward.
It seems that I have no continuity on Ground. Which is odd, as I know that at some point the RGB2HDMI I had an LED illuminate when I pressed a button described somewhere to test it. Oh well, it is what it is.
Based on this I think I'm best off with a new cable. However, my available tools, my eyesight and my delicate touch do not lend themselves to soldering a connector like that! Does anyone have a source of just the cables?
As a work around, I could cut the +5v on pin 6 and externally power it. Work around as available power points/desk space doesn't make that viable
