A "DB25 to DB25" cable is not "a printer cable". If you're making up a DB25 to DB25, never mind any twisted nonsense - I'd just be using a simple 1:1 pin assignment. A "Printer cable" would very likely just common all those GNDs and save on conductors in the cable.it's supposed to be a "real" parallel cable, DB25 male to DB25 male, intended to connect a PC's parallel I/O to a measuring device, of more than €1000.00, which has differential I/O.
