Thanks Dave.
Are you the Dave 'Elk Guru' Hitchins of Retro Hardware, that ive been stumbling across on various YouTube videos and general Electron interwebbing?? Pleasure to meet, sir!
Ill bare that in mind - thanks.
Ive just found a (reportedly working) ULA on fleabay which should arrive in the coming days, so I can swap that out and see if it makes any difference.
If a different ULA doesn't resolve, I'll try a new 16mhz xtal. If ive still got a non-booting Elk, might it be worth me then removing the RAM chips, and reinserting one by one (with new socket beds) to check them (im assuming it will boot with one RAM chip only? If not, removing one by one leaving 3 in to boot test each time?)
As I don't have an oscilloscope (yet), only a trusty multimeter, would there be any pin checks I could test to confirm the ROM and CPU are ok? Ive already confirmed GND and +5v to pins on each RAM, the ROM, ULA, and CPU - all seem to be as expected.
Definitely enjoying this investigation and diagnosis stage. Every day is a learning day!
TIA - Duncan
