Hello, new here. I recently puchased an Electron to relive my first days of computing as a child. This is an issue 4 board that had I found had an intermittent booting problem that became permanent. Suspecting the ULA, it booted fine when I applied some pressure. Inspecting the socket I noticed there were two pins 'pushed down'. I very lightly touched one of these pins with the tip of a sewing pin and pop! Off it went into the ether never to be seen again...
So I am wondering about the best way to replace the socket. I am still developing my desoldering skills, I do not have much experience and very little on hardware this old. I feel this would be a daunting but probably not unachievable job for me to attempt myself, I don't have a desolding station. I understand there is a risk of lifting pads or traces, I guess it comes down to how delicate these boards are?
Are there any good sources for a replacement socket? Or is anyone offering a replacement service? Budget is a big factor, this Electron is already quite precious to me having taken the plunge in the first place.
Any thoughts or advice is greatfully received.
