Thanks for this. I was wondering if it were possible to do an ADFS-less disk image, and if it would help.
I’ll give it a go when I get chance (may be this weekend). Looks like Ian may already have downloaded it tho…
Although if it’s going to work properly, it should do so without being passed any extra root and swap parameters (orherwise single-user emergency boot only).
If it doesn’t work, will it work any better with no Filecore boot area (soes RISXiX even so anything with Filecore)? In which case, booting vmunix off a floppy image being pointed at scsi root and swap would test…
ie boot fd0(0,0)vmunix sd<whatever> sd<whatever>
Fingers crossed all this may become moot. With luck, we’ll soon be in possession of an image of an (I believe clean) install of A680 RISCiX from a pump disk.
In which case, you’ll be able to work out once and for all how they did it.
