And I'm pretty sure QBox came indirectly from TI but was probably later being DOS originally see the attached .txt
PS QBOX can be hit and miss, but it is more about the source. You can have two things that sound like the same sort of speech but encode to very different qualities. I was please with the ones that I did for Astro Blaster, although as they came from recordings of a similar speech chip (I think) that probably helped.
PPS I wrote my own, borrowing the maths from somewhere else who got it from somewhere else (without referencing) although I added more tweaking, the results are no better then QBOX. There is also BlueWizard https://github.com/patrick99e99/BlueWizard but it is command line or Mac (or was last time I checked)
