Picked off video from U24 pin 13 to avoid the dot clock issue.
That is the cause of your problem.
Looking at the schematic:

The graphics video is fed into U12 (74LS51) and then into pin 12 of U24 (74LS86) and the existing text video is fed to pin 13 of U24 (your pickup) and they are combined in that xor gate and output on Pin 11 of U24 so you are picking up only the text video before it gets combined with the graphics.
If you move your pickup to pin 11 of U24 you should get the combined video although it might be inverted. You should be able to fix that by changing the Output Invert setting in the palette menu.
