All!
I'm new to the Archimedes world and to this forum as well. I recently acquired an A3000 machine and have been thinking: wouldn't it be a fun project to build an IDE/Ethernet podule for it? I'm thinking to base my design on this Ethernet design: https://github.com/philb/etherz/tree/main and the if3 design from here: viewtopic.php?p=205109&hilit=if3+ide#p205109
So, IanS or PhilB, if you are lurking around, thank you so much for your work and the inspiration.
I can certainly design the HW and the PCB, order the board, put the components in, etc. Here's the dilemma though: I don't have any experience with RiscOS, let alone RiscOS driver development, so the learning curve to make the necessary ROM content will be very steep for me. I was hoping that someone (or someones) on this forum would be interested in teaming up with me and turning this project into a reality.
So, call to action: let me know if you would like to participate in a project that would bring IDE (Compact Flash really) and modern Ethernet support to the A3000/A3010/A3020 line of machines!
I intend to make this project available for free in GitHub, once it's done, but, again: without the ROM content, it's not going to be more useful than a boat-anchor.
Thanks all,
Andras
