Hi Folks, Ive been wrestling with an A3020 with significant battery damage. Im working my way through it of course but wanted to ask if anyone had seen an Archie throw up error messages :

Error : InstructionAbort: Abort on Instruction fetch at &%0 (Error Number &80000001)
Error : UndefinedInstruction: Undefined instruction at &%0 (Error Number &80000000)

Followed by a some screen garbage.

I think, at this stage, Im getting through POST but its failing before it loads the OS.
I'll echo Ian's suggestions and add - Have you tried holding the Delete key while powering on? Sometimes if there's garbage in CMOS, the machine will misbehave.

The other possibility is you have a relatively minor fault which is allowing the machine to get past SELFTEST, but clobbering the RISC OS boot. RAM's a distinct possibility - but If the board layout is like the A4000 - then the I/O chip is near the battery and I'd give the CPU/Bus side of that a close look.
