Having revised my Master 128 I took a look at the battery pack. This has been in the machine for at least 12 years, probably more, and I suspect it's actually the original unit.
Having said that - it kind of looks ok?

The batteries don't look to be leaking, and they seem to be retaining some charge - or at least I think they are. The machine originally powered up into one of the 80 column modes, and yesterday I issued a *CONFIGURE MODE 7 command, which took. The machine then spent about 12 hours switched off. This morning it still powered up in MODE 7.
I also don't see anything in the cable that would prevent the batteries from potentially recharging - no diodes that I can see (unless it's baked into the motherboard).
My gut feeling says I should probably still replace them, though. Any thoughts?
