Clever stuff!

I can't think of anything that good, but on a Master (but not a B/B+), could you use &FE30 to store data? I don't know how wide it is, but I suppose it must be at least 4 bits.

If you can assume no co-pro is connected, could you get a very limited form of storage by writing data to the tube FIFOs and using whether they are full or not to effectively store a bit of data?

Edit: Getting even more speculative, this 1770 datasheet to my inexpert eye suggests the track, sector and data registers in the 1770 might be read/write - could these be used to store an extra few bytes, if they are memory mapped?
