It depends on how it was imaged, but basically if it is an exact copy of the original disk then yes it should be just the same in working as the original floppy.
The name (or at least filetype depending on how it's been named) and / or size of the image should give you a clue.
DFS images should be:
Single sided (SSD (&B22) 200k)
Double sided (DSD (&B22) 400k)
ADFS naming seems a bit looser ideally should be as below but quite often they are just fietyped adf:
Single Sided (ADM (&FCE) 320k)
Double Sided (ADL (&FCE) 640K)
Double sided (ADF (&FCE) 800K)
