Nice effect! As you say, it's probably a bit slow, but it could make up part of a graphics demo, or be used to display game instructions.

So...... a bit like FontStyle and many other similar programs. I think there was a demo of this sort of thing in the User Manual!

While I don't think the OP did themselves any favours in their description of this, maybe you should look at the effect that the routine achieves before being quite so dismissive of it
