On original Model B DFS they were loadable utilities supplied on floppy as there wasn't room in the ROM.For some reason DFS's FORM40/80 command isn't in any of the user guides, or they're not according to the searches I just ran.
Any idea where this is documented? As I appear to be missing some documentation.
How many ROMs do you actually need? The whole point of the sideways RAM is that you can load ROM images into it. BITD, once I got sideways RAM in my Model B, I didn't feel the need for many ROMs. The only ones you really need on actual ROM are things like filing systems - 'languages' (including things like editors) are more conveniently loaded into sideways RAM as you need them. Of course my scenario BITD was with a large selection of ROM images available for speedy loading from an Econet fileserver - but even if you don't have Econet on your machine you presumably have some kind of modern file storage that makes it easy. But this ADT sounds useful and I really need to know the best way to add ROMs to my system.
On a B you just start adding them but on a Master you'll end up losing all your extra RAM, right?
Is there a solution that lets me write ROM images to some flash or an SD Card, switch them out like you can with disk images on the GoTek and not eat up any of the extra memory?
The other point on the Master is that while the internal extra ROM sockets are either/or with the sideways RAM banks, the cartridge slots are not - so the most straightforward option on a Master if you really want that many ROMs is to get a cartridge or two.
