What is the config of the Beeb? i.e. tape, disc, roms etc. Maybe post a hires shot of the entire innards.
When you tried to type in memtest and you stalled at line 270, was that just a one-off attempt or did a second off/on attempt give exactly the same outcome? Would you be able to type in say ten lines at a time and then save and load/add more/resave to tape or disc so that you slowly build up the full listing?
Given that you have tricky’s test rom, if you posted a couple of screen photos, you might catch the attention of others that know the rom’s symptoms where I do not.
Post a photo of the screen after switch on with the standard faulty config (no test rom) and having typed say *HELP and P.~PAGE, ~HIMEM
Confirm for sure that you are typing the one liner and variations thereof correctly and do persistently repeat that test, just in any one screen mode, say Mode 1, to make it a relatively quick check, because it does still feel like a DRAM fault that’s maybe dodging the test.
