Hmm. Inside the VGA cable I am cannibalising, 4 wires are individually screened with a separate drain wire. So I was hoping the unused one, the other 3 being R, G, B, would be pin 9 for the 5V. But it's pin 4 which is unused in this application. The other wires are much too thin to be stripped. My strippers only go down to AWG 24. So I don't think I have a way of stripping the insulation off the remaining wires to identify which one is pin 9.
