It’s not a moral issue, its medical ethics.
And anyone who actually puts the blood into someone is all too painfully aware that that transfusion could have unintended consequences. They (and the recipient) need to be sure that everything possible has been done to reduce that risk.
With altruistic donation, you may have a reduced supply but at least you can be that bit more sure of its provenance.
