The Olimex board concerned uses the CologneChip GateMate FPGA, which is a fairly new product. And searching for related news, I came across an article I had missed or ignored previously:
"Eleven Open Source Hardware add-on board for GateMateA1-EVB are designed by Intergalaktik d.o.o."
