Apart from head parking and as long as you have copy write check turned off in the CMOS and you don't try to format it the read and write commands between the Ro652 and the ACB4000 are the same and a Filestore will mount a L3 disk.
The problem you are probably running into is that Pi1MHz expects to be on the BBC 1MhzE bus where as the Filestore bus runs at 2MHz.
I started trying to cram a pico with beebscsi into that spot instead because saw the likely hood of the Pi solution not working but this has drifted way down my rainy day pile at the moment.
