NetFS *DOES* *NOT* respond to NetPing, it is the *NETWORKING* system that responds. You can have (almost) any version of NetFS running with (almost) any version of Econet, just as you can have any version of NetPrint, any version of MUGINS, any version of TeleServ, any version of TALK, any version of anything that talks to the network with any version of Econet. Net_Ping will return whatever the version of the *NETWORKING* system that responds. Here with my A5000 gives me 5.62 being returned from Econet 5.62. I've had NetFS 6.00 happily running with Econet 5.62. If I was pinging it over Ethernet it would be the version of the AUN Ethernet module that would be returned. The reason is that if the MachineType query reveals NetFS 6.07 or 6.08, v2.2-dev of the PiFS will find that out at login - in which case i don't need the bodge to work out whether to swap arg & channel. So, e.g., ANFS 4.25 will send back enough data to work out that that's the version. Is the same true of NetFS or does it do something different?
