Epson RX 80 F/T (thanks so much Chris!)
Here it is, sitting next to my 2008 mac pro, looking clean and smart. And here is the paper, in the special paper shelf, temporarily held up with clamps.
I revived the dried-up ribbon with a few drops of paraffin lamp oil. The results are a little brown, and not perfectly uniform, but clearly readable.
It's currently connected to the mac with an ebay usb/centronics cable, as the original ribbon cable is too short to reach my Beeb. It works fine with the osx printing system as a raw printer, so I can use lpr but not print from apps. If I get an econet bridge, I can set it up as a network printer, otherwise I need an extension cable.
I've ordered new springs for the tractor feed clips, and fitted tiny screws to hook them on, as the original plastic knobs had snapped off.
I shimmed the manual feed knob with drinks can aluminium, after gluing the cracks with CNA, and it no longer feels wobbly.
For perfect nostalgia, here is the sound of it singing!
