Well, binary maths is binary maths, and it doesn't make so much difference what technology you are using -- be that ICs, mechanical switches, vacuum tube valves, or even fluid valves and tubes -- as how faithfully you implement the fundamentals. As long as your AND gates output low when any one input or more is low and your OR gates output high when any one input or more is high, everything else is going to work.
